Obituary
July 2, 1987 - March 16, 2025
It was hard to miss Gary. He was 6’5” and had a megawatt smile.
He passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, leaving behind a world made brighter by his generous spirit and abundant kindness. He was 37. Gary John Suderman was born on July 2, 1987, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, before moving to Texas. He graduated from Humble High School and Southern Methodist University, joining his mother and grandfather as alumni.
Gary's lifelong love for movies took off in high school. This passion led him to Los Angeles, where he spent years as a video editor. He had a unique ability to capture moments, turning family vacations into cherished home movies that reflected his distinct perspective on the world.
He was deeply intelligent, endlessly curious, and had a quirky wit that always kept his friends and family guessing. He loved his family and friends fiercely, and they loved him in return. Gary was a devoted son, a loving younger brother, and the fun uncle who never hesitated to spoil his nieces and nephews.
Gary is survived by his parents, Henry and Rhonda; his sister, Sara, and her husband, Billy; his brother, Alan, and his wife, Karen, his nieces and nephews Rebekah, Rachel, Dean, Vera, and Sage, and numerous family members who adored him. He was particularly close to his grandparents, Gary—after whom he was named—and Stella. Gary also loved visiting Vancouver, British Columbia, to visit his uncles, aunts, and cousins on his father’s side. He takes his middle name from his paternal grandfather.
Gary wore his heart on his sleeve, and his earnestness was both endearing and rare in today’s world. Above all, he was a genuinely kind and tenderhearted person, always eager to help those around him.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Strawbridge United Methodist Church located at 5629 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, TX, 77345, at 11 a.m. on April 12, 2025, where family and friends will gather to honor and lift up his legacy.
